Rothschild 99 is a historical Bauhaus building situated in the white city’s most famous boulevard. The new addition is starkly different than the original façade with the intent of highlighting the historical proportions of the building in the face of renewal and progress, much like archaeological layers telling the story of a city.
The project is located in the heart of the Tel Aviv, on Rothschild Boulevard and the corner of Shenkin Street, in a typical preservation building with a commercial and two residential floors. The renovation includes preserving the original facades and strengthening the building while adding two and a half new floors on top of the building’s roof. The materials are based on the original plaster in front of a glass and wood counterpoint material, thus obtaining the heavy and closed structure in front of the light and modern layer.
